Slavery is a gift.

South Carolina Senator, University of South Carolina alumni, and member of State Convention...I am William Harper. I was born January 17, 1790 on the island of Antigua, West Indies. I was a member of the State Convention from 1832-1833, and I continue to protect the laws of Charleston, North Carolina. Free Trade and state rights are some of things that I strongly stand behind as I support the Nullification movement led by John Calhoun. My views on slavery may not agree with all that here my reason, but I am willing to defend my beliefs. Slavery is not merely a necessary evil, but a positive social good. In more ways than one slavery is a beneficial aspect to civilization. It is crucial to economic and technological stability. On many accounts I have noticed that southern states that take advantage of positive the outcomes of slavery have seen a favorable progress in the economy.
Consider the benefits of being apart of a slave state and what pros that come along with enslavement of Africans in the United States. Having slaves is a way to tame the savage, civilize the barbarians, and enlighten the ignorant. The spreading of slavery brings blessings to all the heathens that are against it.
After many years of education and my personal experiences I strongly stand behind my beliefs politically and economically.
