In 1963 the most segregated city of the south was Birmingham, AL. Dr.Martin Luther King was the voice of civil rights during this time period. Eugene Bull Connor was determined to stop the Civil Rights movement. After King was in jail the young people entered the Birmingham fight for their freedom and save the movement. The violence of Bull Connor was seen by many across the country. A. Philip Randolph received a lot of political backup from President Roosevelt. The March on Washington was a national movement in the 60s. Kennedy stood for equally, but MLK also thought he had not done enough in regard to equally. Multiple powerful Civil Rights leaders played a role in the The March on Washington even whites assisted in The March. August 28, 1963 was the morning of The March. Even many stars showed up for The March. More than 100,000 people participated for the freedom and equally of blacks and it was one of the largest demonstrations in America. John Lewis gave the second most famous speech during The March. The King speech was highly anticipated and televised for the nation to be witnessed by all. He was speaking for the future of America and hoped 100 years in the future negros would be free. There was no fear as people saw the point of view of MLK’s speech as he wanted justice for all.

It will go down in history for Civil Rights, because MLK said, “I have a dream.” He along with other America’s fought for the fate of the United States so black and whites could stand hand and hand free from segregation. President Kennedy congratulated the organizers of The March. In the years to follow change started because of his and many others sacrifices.
